POETRY- MY BEST FRIEND
71First off, thank you for your time. This poem reflects on the special relationship between a man and a woman when they are in love. We all have our ups and downs in any relationship. Bur through the wind and rain, love shines through the grey skies and prevails. Once again, thank you for your time and I hope you enjoy this poem titled, "My Best Friend". If you have the extra time, there is a link at the bottom that has other poems that I have written.
In the darkness
You are my light
In my weakness
You are my fight
If I am ever lost
You guide the way
You are the reason for
Who I am today
You are my shelter
Whenever it rains
When I am hurt
You can ease the pain
You bring joy to my life
With just a simple smile
You are the one
That made my life worthwhile
I still remember the first time
I looked into your eyes
It took only a short time
For me too realize
You were the one for me
Nobody could take your place
Time has no limits
In this heart you remain
Engraved into my life
A fire that burns out of control
An everlasting love
From the depths of my soul
With every day that passes
I only love you more
You give me the inspiration
To always do more
Always love one another
As if it was the last day
A single second is not granted
In an instant it can be gone away
So hold me close now baby
Promise to never let go
Your the love of my life
Your love is all I know
Thank you babe for everything
Even though you ask "what for"
I wouldn't be me without you

Friendship is such a wonderful thing that it is often said you can also be a friend with your parents. These beautiful words remind me of love and friendship.

I love the line: "I wouldn't be me without you", that says it all. Another beautiful poem. Reminds me of one I wrote for my best friend after she had a stroke. Check that one out when you have the time. Hope you day is wonderful, see you around....

Thanks for your visit Nell. I have always wrote lyrics instead of poetry, even though they are very similar. I have yet to post any of my songs, but I feel like I will. I believe I write the song first, then it becomes a poem. I am trying to say my lyrical side is always first, poetry second.

PDX, so far, so good. I am still in the foundation part of a few different programs and ideas, so we will have to see what happens. Still trying to get into the country music scene as a writer. Htodd, thanks for coming by and reading this poem. It does to a sense. I have went through a lot, which inspires what I write. I also put myself in other peoples shoes if possible.
lyric writer, I know a lot of musicians so if I ever find one looking for a songwriter, I'll keep you posted. I know a lot about the music business but, unfortunately, I don't know a lot about selling tunes. I would recommend scanning craigslist and your local bars for new and emerging artists. Or, you could do what Neil Diamond did and just sing the songs yourself :-)
I appreciate that very much. I can write and sing, good enough for a demo. I can write a complete song in 10 minutes unedited. Just wish I could get lucky and get a chance just once.
it's all about who you know. too bad u don't live closer and we didn't meet ten years ago. . I used to be quite connected
